MANILA – Delayed three times already, the barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) elections will finally push through this May, the Department of the Interior and Local Government announced.
Interior undersecretary Martin Diño said there are no more obstacles to the polls.
The filing of certificates of candidacy will be from April 14 to 20 while the campaign period is from May 4 to 12.
For his part, Commission on Elections (Comelec) spokesman James Jimenez said they were glad the elections will finally push through.
Jimenez announced that the deadline for the filing of statements of contribution and expenditures is on June 13.
A winning candidate who fails to do so within 30 days after the elections will not be allowed to assume their seat or take oath, he said./PN
