MANILA – To prevent the spread of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19), the Department of Health (DOH) has urged the public to refrain from using “torotot” (party horns) and whistles in welcoming the new year.

Health Secretary Francisco Duque III said Filipinos should instead use other noisemakers such as drums, tambourines and cooking pots that will not require them to take off theirssface masks.

Duque issued the reminder as the government launched in a virtual event the “Tuloy ang Paskong Pinoy 2020” campaign.

The health chief said the guidelines in observing a healthy and safe holiday celebrations are almost the same, except that people are now advised to observe minimum health protocols./PN
