NOCPPO activate search and rescue contingents due to ‘Agaton’

BACOLOD City – The Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office (NOCPPO) activated Search and Rescue (SAR) contingents at the onset tropical depression ‘Agaton.’

There were 248 SAR contingents composed of 8-man SAR Teams from the city and municipal police stations.

Aside from that, the Reactionary Standby Support Force (RSSF) composed of 124 personnel was on alert and ready to provide augmentation to the stations.

Colonel Leo Pamittan, acting provincial director of NOCPPO, directed the activation of the Disaster Incident Management Task Group (DIMTG)-NOCPPO to monitor the situation and direct the deployment of troops.

As part of the activation of the task group of the provincial police force, a Tactical Operations Center (TOC) was established which will coordinate with the Provincial Disaster Management Program Division (PDMPD)-Negros Occidental.

As of April 12, there was 33 SAR personnel deployed and conducting rescue operations for families and individuals affected by flooding brought about by the continuous rain.

Pamittan advised Negrosanons, especially those living in low lying areas which are at risk of flooding and in landslide-prone areas to evacuate for their safety./PN
