BACOLOD City – The Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office (NOCPPO) warned gun owners against discharging their firearms during the New Year’s Day revelry.
NOCPPO spokesperson, Police Lieutenant Judesses Catalogo, said gun owners should find other means to make noise.
Those caught will have their licenses revoked and may face criminal charges, he said.
Catalogo also said there will be no taping of cops’ gun muzzles this year.
As for the police force in the region, meanwhile, Police Regional Office 6 (PRO-6) director Police Brigadier General Leo Francisco told 13,000 personnel to be responsible and know when they have to use their guns.
Cops who indiscriminately fire their guns during the New Year celebration will be dismissed from the service, he added.
“Police personnel should serve as role models to civilians by adhering to the policy of not illegally discharging their firearms. Their career is at stake. They might face administrative cases,” Francisco said.
