BACOLOD City – Capitol will work with a call center company for the skills training of young Negrenses through the Negros Occidental Language and Information Technology Center (NOLITC).

NOLITC continues to capacitate its students to be more ready to the demands of the business process outsourcing (BPO) industry, Administrator Cristina Orbecido said.

“Having more partners means the center is really capable of producing quality talents,” Orbecido said.

NOLITC and Focus Direct struck a deal on the training. Gov. Alfredo Marañon Jr. and Focus Direct site director Cody Carter signed a memorandum of agreement at the former’s office on Wednesday.

NOLITC is a recognized technical-vocational education and training (TVET) provider by the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) that offers competency-based programs, particularly for the ICT (information and communications technology) and Language sectors.

On the other hand Focus Direct believes that the provincial government, through NOLITC, has the technical capability and resources to implement TVET programs relevant and responsive to BPO demands.

Under the agreement, the provincial government will give Focus Direct lists of NOLITC graduates after the completion of their training, while Focus Direct shall hire NOLITC graduates subject to job availability and hiring criteria.

Focus Direct shall also annually train the NOLITC faculty and staff who will be directly responsible in implementing the curriculum to equip them with the needed skills for the course, the agreement stated. (PNA)
