AKLAN – As December begins, persistent rainfall affected several areas in this province, causing street-level flooding in parts of Kalibo town.
The streets in the province’s capital experiencing floods with water levels ranging from five inches to one foot are the following:
* Mabini Street to XIX Martyrs Street
* G.M. Reyes Street to Veterans Avenue
* Toting Reyes Street to Roxas Avenue Extension
* D. Maagma Street to Toting Reyes Street
* Osmeña Avenue to Estancia
* Jaime Cardinal Sin Avenue
Residents and travelers were advised to exercise caution. Roads with water levels up to 2 feet should be avoided as swift currents may pose risks to vehicles and pedestrians, according to the Kalibo Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (MDRRMO).
The MDRRMO was also closely monitoring the water level of the Aklan River at the Mobo Bridge yesterday, December 1, with the bridge’s water level gauge at 2.5 meters.
While the Yellow Flood Alert (3.8 meters threshold) has not yet been raised as of this writing, authorities urged the public to remain vigilant. Residents were advised to monitor local announcements for further advisories./PN
