ROXAS CITY – Negros Occidental Private Schools Sports Cultural and Educational Association (NOPSSCEA) clinched the secondary boys and tertiary men’s volleyball crowns of the Western Visayas Private Schools Athletic Association (WVPRISAA) Meet 2020 here.
NOPSSCEA secondary boys team, which is represented by Living Stones International School, bagged the championship after defeating ILOPRISAA in the finals, 25-20,12-25, 25-16, 25-20.
The high school team was bannered by Emman Colango, Rhodson Du-ot, Jerry Mar Estardo, James Japitana, Eladio Jayawon, John Ledesma, John Montano, Christian Oyco, Cliff Pacenio, Hilary Praico, Christian Reyes, Jian Matthew Salarzon, Jeric Sendon and Lhester Villa.
On their way to the championship round, NOPSSCEA defeated CAPRISAA, 25-18, 25-15, while ILOPRISAA edged Aklan, 25-8, 25-12.
NOPSSCEA also ruled the tertiary men’s volleyball when it defeated ILOPRISAA in the championship match, 24-26, 25-21, 25-19, 26-24.
They, however, failed to capture the tertiary women’s volleyball championship after being beaten by ILOPRISAA-Central Philippine University, 13-25, 25-16, 22-25, 25-12, 15-13.
In the beach volleyball event, NOPSSCEA swept the gold medals in the tertiary men’s and women’s category.
The NOPSSCEA-Colegio de Sta. Ana de Victorias of Rizza Mariniel Bungcayo, Rena Lamina and Faye Ruth De Lumen captured the tertiary women’s beach volleyball gold. The team was mentored by coach Victor Porcel and trainer Robert Neil Ella.
The tertiary men’s beach volleyball, meanwhile, was bagged by NOPSSCEA-University of St. La Salle through Peter Sugaton, Philip Sugaton and Xel Andrei Villarias. The team was coached by Herold Parcia, Jon Mar Aguillon and Armando Degracia./PN
