BACOLOD City – Bacolod Tay Tung High School Thunderbolts and St. John’s Institute are set to face each other in the finals of the Negros Occidental Private Schools Sports Cultural Educational Association (NOPSSCEA) secondary girls volleyball on Saturday.
The defending champions Thunderbolts earned a twice-to-beat incentive in the gold medal match after defeating St. John’s Institute Lady Falcons in straight sets, 25-15, 25-11.
Joan Marie Monares, Alyssa Bertolano and Shane Carmona, all playing in their final year with the Thunderbolts, took turns on the offensive end,
The Thunderbolts entered the finals undefeated.
St. John’s Institute, meanwhile, was able to clinch the other finals seat after defeating Living Stones International School in the second phase of the semifinals.
In the elementary girls volleyball, St. John’s Institute will have a twice-to-beat incentive when it faces Trinity Christian School in the gold medal match.
The NOPSSCEA champions are set to advance in the regional meet for a chance to compete in the WVRAA Meet early next year./PN
