MANILA – NorthPort Batang Pier did not waste time in locking down three-point gunner Robert Bolick with a two-year rookie maximum deal worth P4 million.
The former San Beda University Red Lions star, who was the first rookie to be signed into contract, will receive the rookie maximum salary of P150,000 on the first year and P220,000 on the second year.
Batang Pier head coach Alfredo Jarencio said he is happy with the addition of Bolick to his team as he can form a formidable backcourt with veteran guard Stanley Pringle.
“It’s a good pick for us and he’s the one we’ve been eyeing for a long time to complement with Stanley,” said Jarencio. “At the same time, the kid’s a winner and we need a winner.”
Bolick, for his part, said he is motivated to take over the spot vacated by former Batang Pier star Terrence Romeo, who is now with the San Miguel Beermen after his misunderstanding with his TNT KaTropa teammates.
“‘Yun ang pinakagusto ko e. ‘Yung challenges. Ngayon na sobrang bigat na nang nasa harap ko, siyempre tatangapin ko ng buong puso. Tatrabahuin ko talaga araw-araw. Hindi lang ako. Team kami. For sure, tutulungan din ako,” said Bolick.
Aside from Bolick, the Batang Pier has also recently signed to contract extensions veterans Moala Tautuaa, Jonathan Grey, Juan Nicholas Elorde and Ilonggo Juan Paolo Taha. The four were given two-year extensions each./PN
