Not worth the price

A Manila-based collegiate basketball squad decided to cut the chase on this towering big man from the province which is being sought by several rivals.

A source told the Buzzer Beater the coach of the team was hell bent on securing the services of the player until there was a humongous asking price.

“Big catch sana para kay coach si player kasi syempre ang hirap makahanap ng big man sa ngayon, but ‘yung presyo naman niya ay napakataas para sa isang player na hahasain mo pa,” said the source.

‘Yung presyo na hinihingi ng handler nya ay katapat na ng dalawang foreign players. Kaya sabi ni coach ay parang not worth it naman na sumugal sa isang hilaw kahit need na need nya ng big man,” he added.

“Questionable din ang loyalty ni player dahil ang gusto niyang puntahan ay ‘yung isang university. Eh kaso wala din namang means para makuha siya sa handler niya at baka mag-AWOL din,” the source further said.

“Good luck na lang sa kung saan man siya mapunta. Sana mahasa siya dun kasi sa totoo lang tangkad lang ang asset niya ngayon. Madami pang kailangang ayusin sa kanya kaya walang kumakagat sa presyo niya,” the source concluded.

Bacolodnon rookie Kirell Brandon Montalbo is thrilled with the opportunity to play alongside and learn from veteran guard Jayson Castro over at the TNT KaTropa camp.

“I want to learn a lot from him (Castro) since he’s the best point guard of Asia,” said Montalbo over the Philippine Basketball Association (PBA) Kamustahan.

The 24-year-old Montalbo – former standout of St. John’s Institute in Bacolod City – was selected 11th overall by TNT during the first round of last year’s PBA draft in a bid to further reinforce the KaTropa backcourt.

“I’m excited to play with my teammates again, I’m excited to showcase my talent and I’m ready when the PBA starts,” said Montalbo, who spent his college with De La Salle University Green Archers./PN
