ILOILO City – Due to delayed reporting from its field offices, it was only yesterday that the Police Regional Office 6 (PRO-6) learned that there were in fact three cases of stray bullets / illegal discharge of firearms during the New Year revelry.
But no persons were hit or got injured, it stressed.
Two of the cases were in the province of Aklan. The other one was in Iloilo province, according to PRO-6 spokesperson, Police Lieutenant Colonel Arnel Solis.
In Aklan, one case was in Barangay Linabaun Norte, Kalibo town. A bullet was recovered on the bed of Mateo Robiso, 62.
According to Robiso, he found it upon waking up at around 5 a.m. on Jan. 1.
The other case in Aklan was in the town of Numancia, and specifically in Barangay Laguinbanua East.
A bullet was found in the kitchen of Herbeth Antonino’s house at around 8 a.m.
The police recovered an empty shell of a .32 pistol around 60 meters away from Antonino’s house.
In Iloilo province, another house was allegedly hit by a stray bullet – in Barangay Bayuyan, Estancia, Iloilo.
According to Ronaldo Dela Cruz, it was around 12:10 a.m.
Her daughter Charmine heard something hitting their galvanized iron roof, then their kitchen door. She then saw a slug bullet.
The bullet was turned over to the Estancia police station.
Solis said these cases were reported to the police only on Jan. 2./PN
