CAPIZ – An alleged member of the New People’s Army (NPA) surrendered to the Maayon Municipal Police Station (MPS) at around 10:14 a.m. on Oct. 10.

The unnamed rebel decided to surrender after a series of negotiations by joint elements of the Maayon MPS under Police Major Cristopher Candelar and other police units, including the Capiz Provincial Police Office (CPPO) Communist Terrorist Group (CTG) Trackers.

According to the Maayon police, the surrenderer handled positions in the NPA organization such as a fighter and political guide.

The now ex-rebel said he decided to surrender to the government and withdrawn support from the NPA  after realizing that he had been deceived for a long period of time.

On the same day, CPPO’s Provincial Investigation and Detective Management Unit (PIDMU) head, Police Lieutenant Colonel Necerato G. Sabando Jr., visited Maayon MPS and had a conference with the operating elements.

In the presence of the said surrendered rebel, they discussed matters relevant to the said accomplishment.

Furthermore, the NPA surrenderee was informed of the benefits he could avail from the government.

Under the government’s Enhanced Comprehensive Local Integration Program (E-Clip), surrendering rebels are offered a holistic package of benefits that includes livelihood, medical, education, housing, and legal assistance./PN
