MANILA – The National University (NU) Lady Bulldogs cruised to solo lead in the standings of the University Athletic Association of the Philippines Season 82 Women’s Volleyball after a 26-24, 25-14, 25-21 sweep over Adamson University Lady Falcons at the SM Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City on March 8.

Audrey Paran spearheaded the Lady Bulldogs with 15 points, while Congolese rookie Margot Mutshima dispersed seven attacks, three blocks and three aces to finish with 13 markers.

Ivy Lacsina and Risa Sato were also instrumental after landing nine and eight markers, respectively. Setter Joni Chavez had 13 excellent sets laced with nine digs, while Jennifer Nierva registered 11 digs and 10 receptions for the now 2-0 NU.

“Masaya kami dahil pangalawang panalo namin for this season,” NU head coach Norman Miguel said. “Malaking factor ‘to para sa players namin. Malaking morale boost para sa kanila to work harder towards the succeeding games namin.”

It was only in the opening set of the match that the Lady Bulldogs were threatened at 22-24 before mounting a huge offensive rally to turn the tables around. They never trailed from that point afterwards with Paran and Mutshima anchoring the offense.

Meanwhile, the University of Santo Tomas Golden Tigresses vented its ire on Far Eastern University Lady Tamaraws with a 25-20, 25-16, 25-18 domination.

Eiya Laure had an all-around performance of 16 points built on 12 attacks, three blocks and an ace while also listing 14 digs and eight receptions for the now 1-1 Golden Tigresses.

Ennajie Laure, meanwhile, pummeled 12 markers, two of which came from aces, while Caitlyn Viray and Imee Hernandez contributed nine and seven markers, respectively for the winning team./PN
