ILOILO City – Mayor Emmanuel Galila issued Executive Order No. 40, Series of 2020 temporarily suspending the operation of the Rural Health Unit (RHU) building of Nueva Valencia in Guimaras.
“In view of the numerous clients and patients who are being attended to by the RHU of Nueva Valencia, there is a need to disinfect the building as part of the municipality’s preventive measures against the further spread of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19),” read part of Galila’s EO. The directive on the RHU’s closure took effect on Aug. 27 until Sept. 2.
Based on the Aug. 26 data from the provincial government, Guimaras has 87 confirmed COVID-19 cases – 40 of which were active.
Buenvaista recorded 21 of these active cases; Jordan, nine; Sibunag, six; Nueva Valencia, three; and San Lorenzo, one./PN
