NUEVA VALENCIA, Guimaras – The local government unit (LGU) here temporarily suspended work at the municipal hall.
On Aug. 5, the municipality recorded nine confirmed cases of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19), one of whom was a casual employee of the LGU.
“Hence, there is a need to temporarily suspend the operation of the offices in the municipal hall to carry out cleaning and disinfection…and for the Municipal Health Office to properly conduct contract tracing,” according to Mayor Emmanuel Galiĺa.
His Executive Order No. 30, series of 2021 set the closure for two days (Aug. 5 and 6).
Galila, however, made it clear that the Rural Health Unit and Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office will continue operating.
The municipal hall will reopen on Aug. 9.
As of Aug. 4, Nueva Valencia had 16 active COVID-19 cases./PN
