NUEVA VALENCIA, Guimaras – The municipal hall here will be disinfected today. All work and transactions are suspended.

This is a “precautionary measure to prevent the spread of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID 19),” according to Mayor Emmanuel Galila in Executive Order (EO) No. 10, Series of 2021 that scheduled the disinfection.

As of Feb. 24, the municipality recorded 25 COVID-19 cases in barangays Magamay (11, including two deaths) and Igang (14). All were taken to the town’s quarantine facility.

“Contact tracing revealed that close and general contacts of confirmed COVID-19 cases still have transactions in the different offices. Given the foregoing circumstances, there is a pressing need to temporarily suspend the operation of all offices in the municipal government to effectively carry out the cleansing and disinfection…except for the frontline offices of the Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office and the Rural Health Unit,” part of the EO read.

The municipal hall reopens on Monday, March 1./PN
