ROXAS City – The number of tourist arrivals in Capiz is rising, the partial 2016 Visitors Annual Report of the Provincial Tourism and Cultural Affairs Office (PTCAO) showed.
There were 114,907 total guest nights so far; 78,911 total guests checking -in; 43,876 total number of rooms occupied; and 6,738 number of rooms booked from January to September this year.
“This trend is the result of the efforts of the provincial government and the private sector to provide great accommodation to visitors,” said PTCAO chief Alphonsus Tesoro.
Eco-tourism, culture, and seafood products are some of the reasons why Capiz is becoming one of the favorite tourist destinations this year, Tesoro explained.
MICE (Meetings, Incentive travel, Conventions, and Exhibitions) tourism and institutionalized events such as the Provincial Tourism Month, National Arts Month, and CAPIZtahan (the annual charter celebration of Capiz) contributed to the numbers, he added.
According to PTCAO, total number of rooms is the actual physical count of rooms; guest night includes the number of times the guest checked in plus their stay for at least one night; and number of rooms occupied is the number of times the rooms were occupied for a certain period of time like a month or the actual period.
The figures were gathered from different tourism officers and accommodation establishments in Capiz. (Capiz Aksyon News Center/PN)
