
ILOILO City – The second leg of the national coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) vaccination days in Western Visayas this week won’t push through due to tropical cyclone “Odette” (international name: “Rai”).
From Dec. 15 to 17, “Bayanihan Bakunahan” would be carried out on Dec. 20 and 21.
“Odette” entered the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) last night.
The postponement of the mass vaccination was ordered specifically in regions 5, Mimaropa, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, CARAGA, and the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM).
On the other hand, the Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR), the National Capital Region (NCR), and regions 1, 2, 3, and 4-A shall proceed with the vaccination.
ALMOST 690K TARGET
The Department of Health (DOH) in Western Visayas targets to vaccinate 689,430 individuals (229,810 daily target).
Here’s the breakdown per province and highly urbanized city: Aklan – 40,869; Antique – 69,348; Capiz – 62,412; Guimaras – 10,437; Iloilo province – 183,159; Negros Occidental – 304,707; and Bacolod City – 18,498.
DOH-6 is hopeful that the region will reach herd immunity.
As of Dec. 13, the number of fully vaccinated Western Visayans reached 2,536,330 or 45.46 percent of the target population.
On the other hand, 3.8 million individuals or 68.97 percent of the total target population received one dose of COVID-19 vaccine./PN
