ILOILO City – The three brothers-in-law of slain drug lord Melvin Odicta Sr. recently released by the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) after their arrest following a drug raid were not yet off the hook, according to the Police Regional Office 6 (PRO-6).
The police would continue monitoring the movements of Regalado brothers Leo, Cyril and Arnulfo, said Chief Superintendent John Bulalacao, regional police director.
The Regalado siblings were brothers of Odicta’s wife, Meriam. They were arrested on Dec. 13 in Barangay Sambag, Jaro district by operatives of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) and the PRO-6’s Regional Drug Enforcement Unit.
Arnulfo’s wife Nilda was also arrested.
PDEA released the suspects on Friday after failing to file charges.
Bulalacao said policemen were ready to arrest the suspects should PDEA finally succeed in filing charges against the suspects and the court would issue arrest warrants.
During the Dec. 13 raid on the Regalado house, PDEA and policemen recovered nine sachets of shabu valued at P400,000.
“If we monitor that they engage in the illegal drug trade, we will conduct another operation against them,” said Bulalacao.
According to PDEA, the suspects continued trafficking drugs even after the death of Melvin and Meriam.
The Odicta spouses were shot to death by unidentified armed men at the jetty port in Barangay Caticlan, Malay, Aklan on Aug. 29, 201/PN
