ILOILO City – The nephew of slain drug lord Melvin Odicta Sr. was arrested in an antidrug operation of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) at the public plaza of Jaro district yesterday afternoon.
Rocky Odicta, 38, was a resident of Barangay Tanza Esperanza, City Proper. He was detained in the lockup facility of the Jaro police station.
Rocky did not know he was being subjected to an entrapment by the PDEA at around 3 p.m.
An undercover police officer transacted from him P85,000 worth of shabu.
The suspect allegedly stopped trafficking drugs during the lockdown period due to coronavirus disease 2019 pandemic but resumed operation in November last year.
Antidrug operatives recovered 15 grams of suspected shabu valued at around P102,000.
Rocky, however, denied owning the illegal drugs seized from him. He was placed under surveillance for weeks prior to yesterday’s buy-bust.
