Oil price war rages in Malolos, Bulacan

MANILA – While a series of rollbacks has driven oil pump prices down, gas sold at some stations in Barangay Pinagbakahan in Malolos, Bulacan was even cheaper by up to P10 a liter compared to rates in Metro Manila and other areas.

GMA News reported on “Balitanghali”  that the sharp price cuts  is a result of  “price war” among competing gas stations in the area.

A number of gas stations have reportedly been slashing prices to draw in more and more customers.

At one station, diesel fell to P36 per liter, while gasoline and kerosene cost as low as P37 and P38 per liter respectively.

Gawa po kasi sir na tabi-tabi po ‘yung mga gasolinahan dito. Naglalaban po kami dito sa price war,” an attendant said. “Dikit-dikit po kasi ang gasolinahan dito.”

Though no problems had been reported, some consumers have urged the Department of Energy to check on the quality of the petroleum products being sold at low prices. (GMA News/PN)
