Oil prices up for second time this year

MOTORISTS will have to pay more for petroleum products starting today, as oil firms announced another round of hikes following the rollback implemented last week.

This also marked the second time this year that oil prices went up. The first major pump price hikes were on Jan. 3.

In an advisory, Petron Corp., Pilipinas Shell Petroleum Corp. and Seaoil said it will hike prices per liter of gasoline by P0.95, diesel by P0.50, and kerosene by P0.15.

Cleanfuel will implement the same changes, excluding kerosene which it does not carry.

The changes will take effect at 6 a.m. today for all firms except for Cleanfuel which will adjust prices at 4:01 p.m. the same day.

Latest data available from the Department of Energy (DOE) show that prices in Metro Manila ranged from P56.00 per liter (Caloocan) to P80.92 per liter (Pasig) for gasoline, and P57.10 per liter (Quezon City) to P78.45 per liter (Pasay) for diesel as of Jan. 12, 2023.

Oil firms last week rolled back prices per liter of gasoline by P0.75, diesel by P2.80, and kerosene by P2.10.

On Jan. 3, gasoline price rose by P2.90 per liter, diesel by P2.10, and kerosene by P3.05. (GMA Integrated News)
