‘Old grudge’ leads to hacking

BACOLOD City – A past grudge may have led to a hacking incident in Barangay Pinapugasan, Escalante City, Negros Occidental.

The victim, 39-year-old Julius Torcuator, died of fatal hack wounds at the city’s Vicente Gustilo District Hospital.

The suspect was Ronal Silma, 33, the victim’s coworker at a sugarcane plantation in the village.

According to the police, Torcuator and Silma were receiving their wages at the house of certain Silverio Deniega on July 3. The victim reportedly apologized to the suspect over a misunderstanding  the other night but the suspect took a bolo and carried out the attack.

Silma turned himself in to the Escalante City police station./PN
