BACOLOD City – The Office of the Ombudsman has ordered the suspension of Tangub barangay captain Noli Villarosa for six months.
The suspension order was served on Monday, May 6, by a representative of the Department of Interior and Local Government.
The Ombudsman decision stemmed from a complaint filed by barangay kagawad Katrina Joan Sonota and former kagawad Dindo Amadeo on July 18, 2022 for conduct unbecoming of a public official and grave misconduct against Villarosa.
This pertained to the alleged withholding of certain amounts from the salaries of barangay employees.
According to the complainants, the barangay captain would declare a delay in the payroll, prompting barangay employees to borrow money from the unregistered business of Villarosa’s wife/partner.
Villarosa could not be reached for comment as of this writing.
Atty. Caesar Distrito, spokesperson of Mayor Alfredo Abelardo Benitez, said Villarosa could file a motion for reconsideration before the Ombudsman or an appeal before the Court of Appeals.
As of this writing, barangay kagawad Luz Atienza was the acting barangay captain of Tangub effective May 7./PN
