AFTER an exciting start to 2019 with the 54th Anvil Awards (where they are one of only two winners of the coveted Platinum Anvil), the publishing house is currently working on more projects to be released throughout the year.
Last April 2, the International Association of Business Communicators (IABC) announced the winners of the 2019 Gold Quill Awards program (#IABCGQ). Known as one of the most prestigious awards in the industry, this year’s awards saw 202 winners in total, with 86 entries receiving Excellence Awards while 116 received Merit Awards.
Media Wise Communications won a Merit Award for the Publications category for their work on “On the March: The Jesuits in the Philippines Since the Restoration,” the only entry from the Philippines for the category. This makes them one of five winning entries from the Philippines for the entire Gold Quill Awards, joining names such as Jollibee Foods Corp. and Stratworks, Inc., Aboitiz Group, PAGEONE Group and Center for Health Solutions and Innovations Philippines, Inc., and ABS-CBN Corporation. This is the second Gold Quill (Award of Merit) for Media Wise, having won the first one in 2017 with “Jesuits in Mindanao: The Mission,” which was awarded in Washington D.C., U.S.A.
The book was conceived as a fundraising project for the Philippine Jesuit Aid Association, an institution headed by Fr. Jose Quilongquilong, S.J. that is targeted to aid the elderly, retired and infirm Jesuits, as well as the promotion of Jesuit vocations in the Philippine province. “On the March” chronicles the journey of the Jesuits as they bring the Catholic faith to the most remote corners of the Philippines. The book focuses on their ministry in education throughout the years, and the many aspects of their apostolate in the country.
Media Wise Communications President and CEO Ramoncito Ocampo Cruz and Manuel Engwa served as executive co-publishers of the book, while John Nery was the main editor of a stellar writing team with Fr. Jose S. Arcilla, S.J. as principal writer.
The winners of the program’s special awards for communication research and handling a critical business issue will be announced later this month, along with the Best of the Best awards. The winners of the agency/communication department of the year awards will be announced during the Excellence Gala on Tuesday, 11 June, as part of the 2019 IABC World Conference in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada./PN
