ILOILO – A woman died and four others were injured after two motorcycles crashed into one another around 10 a.m. on Thursday, July 4, along a national highway in Barangay Cawayan, Carles in this province.
The 47-year-old Joan Matulac, a resident of the said place, sustained fatal head injuries. She was rushed to Jesus M. Colmenares District Hospital in Balasan town but was declared dead on arrival by the attending physician.
Balasan police identified the injured as Joan’s husband, Arien Matulac, 47, who was also brought to the aforementioned hospital; and driver Aaron Arinasa, 24, and his back riders Marvin Arinasa, 34, and Leo Arinasa, 35.
The three Arinasas were undergoing treatment at Sara District Hospital.
Police Senior Master Sergeant Christopher Balaan, investigator of the Carles Municipal Police Station, said Arien fetched his wife after selling fish in Barangay Abong.
When the couple’s motorcycle was about to turn left at a crossing, they were accidentally hit by another motorcycle driven by Aaron, Balaan said.
