Only 8 Antique COVID patients hospitalized

ANTIQUE – Of the 63 active cases of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) here (as of Nov. 15), only eight are in hospitals.

The rest are in quarantine facilities or quarantining at home only because they are asymptomatic, according to Provincial Health Officer I, Dr. Leoncio Abiera.

“Descending atun cases, and our healthcare utilization is still at low risk. The TTMF (Temporary Treatment Monitoring Facilities) remain functional,” added Abiera.

The province’s healthcare utilization rate is at 31 percent; isolation facilities at 22.18 percent; Intensive Care Unit beds at 10 percent; and mechanical ventilator at 4.76 percent.

Abiera attributed the drop in COVID-19 cases to vaccinations.

As of Nov. 11, 111,243 Antiqueños – representing 25 percent of the 432,452 target population for vaccination – were deemed fully vaccinated.

The provincial government has also started vaccinating youngsters from 12 to 17 years old.

It hopes to vaccinate at least 50 percent (216,226) of the target population by the end of December 2021./PN
