Only 9 NOCPPO personnel left unvaccinated vs COVID-19

BACOLOD City – The Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office (NOCPPO) said it only has nine personnel left unvaccinated against coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19).

NOCPPO spokesperson Police Lieutenant Abegael Donasco, said 2,430 of their personnel are now fully-vaccinated.

The nine unvaccinated personnel are one percent of the total NOCPPO population of 2,439. They submitted medical waivers explaining why they could not be vaccinated against COVID-19.

They cited existing comorbidities, pregnancy or lactations, said Donasco.

As of March 29, Donasco said, the NOCPPO had no active COVID-19 cases.

Since the beginning of the pandemic in 2020, NOCPPO recorded a total of 268 COVID-19 cases among its personnel, with only two confirmed fatalities.

The most common symptoms of COVID-19 are fever, tiredness, and dry cough.

Some patients may have aches and pains, nasal congestion, runny nose, sore throat or diarrhea. These symptoms are usually mild and begin gradually. Some people become infected but don’t develop any symptoms and don’t feel unwell.

Most people (about 80%) recover from the disease without needing special treatment.

Older people, and those with underlying medical problems like high blood pressure, heart problems or diabetes, are more likely to develop serious illness./PN
