‘Operation Baklas’ kicks off in Aklan

KALIBO, Aklan – The “Operation Baklas” went on smoothly as the 45-day campaign period for local poll candidates started in the province.

Personnel of the Philippine National Police and the Department of Public Works and Highways assisted the Commission on Elections (Comelec) in removing oversized campaign posters.

Hindi pa tayo 100 percent sa Operation Baklas sa mga munisipyo sa Aklan,” said Comelec provincial spokesman Crispin Raymund Gerardo.

Gerardo said the local candidates were urged to take down all illegal posters and campaign materials across the province.

Ang mga kandidato at kanilang mga supporters dapat sumunod sa mga Comelec rules sa duration ng campaign period,” he said.

Posters and tarpaulins should have a maximum size of 2 feet by 3 feet and should be posted only in designated common poster areas or in private properties with the consent of the owners, Gerardo added. (With a report from Akean Forum/PN)
