BACOLOD City – The Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office (NOCPPO) has activated the “Oplan Ligtas Balik Eskwela” to ensure the safety of students and teachers for today’s school opening.
The “Oplan Ligtas Balik Eskwela” includes the execution of security preparation by 31 city and municipal police stations in Negros Occidental to ensure the safety of the students, parents and teachers against crimes.
Colonel Romeo Baleros, NOCPPO director, said police assistance desks (PADS) were established in the entrance of school campuses across the province.
“PADs set up in various areas of convergence are aimed to deter criminal activities,” said Baleros.
The Department of Education recently announced the opening of classes for public schools, except for state colleges and universities, on June 3.
The provincial police director advised parents and guardians to be vigilant of their children’s safety.
“We urged parents to be watchful so that their children will not be victimized, especially by illegal drug personalities, who also use students as couriers,” he stressed.
Brigadier General John Bulalacao, director of Police Regional Office 6, meanwhile ordered a directive placing police forces under full alert status to secure class opening in Western Visayas. (With a report from PNA/PN)
