ILOILO City – Thru “Oplan Sigabong”, the Iloilo Police Provincial Office (IPPO) hopes to strengthen its campaign against the proliferation of loose firearms.
Police Colonel Noel Calderon Aliño, IPPO director, ordered all police chiefs and intelligence officers to conduct massive operations against persons possessing unlicensed guns and illegal gun manufacturers.
He will give monetary reward to those who can provide positive information about those selling or manufacturing loose firearms.
“Any information received will be strictly considered confidential. Call or text your nearest police station. Paigtingin po natin ang ating kampanya sa mga homemade firearms,” Aliño said.
On the other hand, Police Brigadier General Leo Francisco, director of the Police Regional Office 6 (PRO-6), said they are also focusing on manufacturers of homemade guns.
However, he received reports that some gun runners illegally source their firearms outside the region.
“May natanggap tayo na balita na sa labas ng Region 6 nila kinukuha ang armas na hindi lisensyado,” Francisco said./PN
