BACOLOD City – A 14-year-old boy died in the hospital after allegedly being punched in the stomach by his relative in Barangay Jerusalem, Cadiz City, Negros Occidental.
The suspect was identified as Jewelskie Java, 40, resident and relative of the boy.
Police have refused to identify the victim, but the case is now with the Women and Children Protection Desk of the Cadiz City Police Station.
According to an investigation by the police, the boy was reportedly abandoned by his mother at an early age and was left in the care of his relatives.
The incident happened on Nov. 23 but was only reported to the police on Nov. 26, Chief Inspector Rocky Desear, Cadiz City police head said.
The suspect remains at large. Police will only arrest Java if the foster parents of the minor press charges against the suspect.
