To boost immunization coverage, the provincial government headed by Gov. Arthur Defensor Jr. is giving incentives to barangay volunteers.
IPHO head Dr. Maria Socorro Colmenares-Quiñon said the provincial government allotted P8 million for barangay health workers, barangay nutrition scholars, and child development workers or barangay service point officers who acted as social mobilizers, guides, and recorders or conducted social preparation and advocacy activities.
The volunteer workers will receive P50 for every child they mobilize for vaccination.
A list of children vaccinated uploaded to the Synchronized Electronic Immunization Registry will serve as the basis for the payroll.
The workers must also be included in the list of qualified barangay volunteers as verified by the midwife/nurse-in-charge and concurred by the municipal health officer for them to avail of the incentives.
Quiñon said the provincial government wants to compensate the efforts of the volunteer workers in accelerating its vaccination coverage.
The month-long MR-OPV SIA began on May 1.
