Over 12K cops to secure ‘Fiesta Minatay’ in WV

ILOILO City – The Police Regional Office 6 (PRO-6) is on full alert to secure cemetery goers during the observance of All Saints’ and All Souls’ days on Nov. 1 and 2, respectively.

A total of 12,486 police personnel were deployed across Western Visayas, said PRO-6 deputy director for administration (DRDA) Brigadier General Archival Macala.

PRO-6 warned the public that bringing of firearms, bladed weapons and other similar items; bringing, selling and drinking of liquor; playing of loud music from radio or portable speakers/communicating through microphones or conversing in loud voices that cause disturbance/irritants to others; and any types of gambling and use of firecrackers pyrotechnics display inside cemeteries are strictly prohibited.

The public is also advised that before leaving their houses, make sure that all doors are locked and all appliances are unplugged.

For Police Colonel Joeresty Coronica, director of the Iloilo City Police Office (ICPO), he said city police personnel are all in place with the augmentation of force multipliers.

“We had already deployed our men after the local elections. We have men in all entrance and exit points of cemeteries to safeguard the public,” Coronica said./PN
