ILOILO – As of Jan. 13, 138,124 youngsters here between 12 and 17 years old were deemed fully vaccinated already against coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19), having received their second dose of the Pfizer vaccine against the viral disease.
On the other hand, 184,423 more of this pediatric population is waiting for their second dose to be deemed fully vaccinated, too.
Here’s the breakdown of the fully vaccinated young people in this province by area: Ajuy (4,921), Alimodian (4,482), Anilao (3,184), Badiangan (2,391), Balasan (2,607), Banate (3,267), Barotac Nuevo (3,813), Barotac Viejo (4,567), Batad (2,334), Bingawan (1,375), Cabatuan (4,023), Calinog (3,496), Carles (5,786), Passi City (4,855), Concepcion (3,167), Dingle (3,122), Dueñas (2,768), Dumangas (4,045), Estancia (3,297), Guimbal (3,044), Igbaras (2,056), Janiuay (4,206), Lambunao (3,113), Leganes (2,309), Lemery (3,066), Leon (2,891), Maasin (2,155), Miag-ao (4,430), Mina (2,117), New Lucena (2,206), Oton (7,602), Pavia (4,188), Pototan (5,492), San Dionisio (3,700), San Enrique (2,754), San Joaquin (4,262), San Miguel (2,058), San Rafael (1,321), Santa Barbara (4,36), Sara (4,232), Tigbauan (1,846), and Zarraga (3,019).
Data from the Provincial Health Office (PHO) also showed 20 areas setting high targets for pediatric COVID-19 vaccination: Oton (10,447), Passi City (9,469), Pototan (8,826), Lambunao (8,658), Dumangas (8,125), Carles (8,013), Miag-ao (7,944), Janiuay (7,513), Tigbauan (7,373), Calinog (7,103), Cabatuan (6,871), Barotac Nuevo (6,366), Pavia (6,537), Ajuy (6,145), San Joaquin (6,281), Barotac Viejo (5,386), Estancia (5,707), and Concepcion (5,074).
Dr. Socorro Colmenares-Quiñon, PHO chief, commended parents for encouraging their children to get vaccinated. She urged those yet to be vaccinated to register at their Rural Health Unit (RHU).
Their parents or guardians must present to the RHU their youngsters’ valid identification card and birth certificate.
Regarding the adult population of Iloilo, as of Jan. 13 a total of 874,010 persons (or 60 percent of the target population of 1,448,757) were deemed fully vaccinated already while 1,067,391 more were waiting for their second dose to be considered fully vaccinated as well./PN
