Over 145,000 learners in WV register early for SY 2025-26

ILOILO City – The Department of Education (DepEd) Region 6 continues to urge parents and guardians of incoming Kindergarten and Grades 1, 7, and 11 learners to take advantage of the early registration period in their preferred public schools.

As of February 5, a total of 145,976 learners in Western Visayas have already registered early for School Year 2025-2026.

The breakdown of early registrants includes 31,449 for Kindergarten, 48,003 for Grade 1, 32,898 for Grade 7, and 3,362 for Grade 11.

Early registration, which began on January 15, will run until February 15. In the previous school year, 335,155 learners in the region participated in early registration.

DepEd-6 information officer Hernani Escullar Jr. emphasized the importance of registering early and encouraged parents to do so before the deadline.

“We are continuously campaigning for early registration, and our Schools Division Offices remain active in reaching out to parents, especially for incoming Kindergarten learners. We urge them to register as early as possible,” Escullar said in an interview with Panay News.

He clarified that early registration is free, and parents only need to proceed to their chosen schools to fill out and submit the Basic Enrollment Form to the designated personnel.

DepEd also encourages face-to-face transactions to ensure clear communication between parents and teachers.

“We want to prevent miscommunication, which is why we strongly recommend in-person registration,” Escullar added.

For areas with limited transportation access, particularly Geographically Isolated and Disadvantaged Areas (GIDA), schools provide drop boxes where parents can pick up and submit registration forms.

Escullar stressed that early registration is crucial for DepEd’s planning and resource allocation for the next school year.

Meanwhile, students from Grades 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, and 12 are automatically pre-registered, so they do not need to undergo the early registration process./PN
