ANTIQUE – When Typhoon “Betty” entered the Philippine area of responsibility (PAR) on May 27, 2,138 individuals from 870 families in the province preemptively evacuated.
They were either in evacuation centers or at a friend’s or relative’s house.
As of yesterday, 791 families from the municipalities of Patnongon, Tibiao, Barbaza, and Sibalom were still in evacuation centers, data from the Antique provincial government further showed.
Here is the breakdown:
* Poblacion, Patnongon – 75 families, 254 persons
* Castillo, Tibiao – 21 families, 57 persons
* Amar, Tibiao – 7 families, 19 persons
* Tigbaboy, Tibiao – 36 families, 139 persons
* San Isidro, Tibiao – 9 families, 43 persons
* Tuno, Tibiao – 87 families, 173 persons
* Sta. Ana, Tibiao – 8 families, 33 persons
* Alegre, Tibiao – 13 families, 41 persons
* Pitac, Tibiao – 257 families, 868 persons
* Nariron, Barbaza – 1 family, 7 persons
* Nagdayao, Sibalom – 72 families, 227 persons
* Pis-anan, Sibalom – 51 families
* Bontol, Sibalom – 150 families
* Alangan, Sibalom – four families, 18 persons
The Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office (PSWDO) earlier prepositioned food packs and prepared more yesterday.
Classes, work suspended
Due to the inclement weather brought by the southwest monsoon enhanced by Typhoon “Betty”, 18 local chief executives cancelled classes yesterday.
According to the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (PDRRMO), these were:
* Caluya – all levels, both public and private schools
* Libertad – pre-school to senior high school, both public and private schools
* Pandan – all levels, both public and private schools
* Sebaste – all levels, both public and private schools
* Culasi – pre-school to Senior high school
* Tibiao – all levels, both public and private schools
* Barbaza – all levels, both public and private schools
* Laua-an – all levels, both public and private schools
* Bugasong – all levels, both public and private schools
* Valderrama – all levels, both public and private schools
* Patnongon – all levels, both public and private schools
* Belison – all levels, both public and private schools
* San Remigio – all levels, both public and private schools
* Sibalom – all levels, both public and private schools
* San Jose de Buenavista – pre-school to senior high school, both public and private schools
* Hamtic – all levels, both public and private schools
* Tobias Fornier – all levels, both public and private schools (June 1 and 2)
* Anini-y – all levels, both public and private schools
Gov. Rhodora J. Cadiao also declared a suspension of work at the provincial government.
Executive Order No. 97 by Cadiao stated that “According to the PDRRMO five-day extended weather outlook, the entire province will be experiencing heavy rains and thunderstorms brought by the intensified southwest monsoon (Habagat) from June 1 to June 4.”
Meanwhile, offices exempted from the work suspension are PDRRMO, Provincial Engineering Office, PSWDO, hospitals and other public safety service providers, including contract of service and job orders, who were allowed by their heads of office to undergo a skeleton workforce.
Meanwhile, employees of national government agencies may render services at the discretion of their head of office. (With a report from the Provincial Government of Antique)/PN
