BACOLOD City – Over 500 personnel of the Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office (NOCPPO) participated on the first day of the absentee voting yesterday.
Data from the Police Regional Office 6 (PRO-6) showed 666 NOCPPO personnel cast their ballots.
The voting took place at NOCPPO’s headquarters at Camp Alfredo Montelibano Sr. in Barangay Estefania, Bacolod City, said Police Lieutenant Abegael Donasco, provincial police spokesperson.
A total of 1,753 NOCPPO personnel registered for absentee voting.
Earlier Atty. Roberto Salazar, Commission on Elections (Comelec) provincial elections supervisor, said about 2,000 absentee voters in Negros Occidental were expected to participate in the three-day absentee voting.
Also among the absentee voters in Negros Occidental were active members of the Armed Forces of the Philippines, Bureau of Fire Protection, Philippine Coast Guard, Comelec personnel, and even media personalities who have been assigned here far from their home provinces.
Voting is done inside military camps, and only national positions – president, vice president, senator, party-list – can be voted.
All of the ballots from the absentee voters will be submitted to the Comelec central office in Metro Manila./PN
