AKLAN – A total of 530,019 residents of this province already registered to the Philippine Identification System (PhilSys) as of May 3, 2024, according to the Philippine Statistic Authority (PSA)-Aklan.

The number comprises 86.24 percent of the total population of the province based on the 2020 Census of Population and Housing (CPH).

Meanwhile, 375,974 of printed electronic PhilIDs (ePhilID) cards have been distributed to registrants while 247,205 PhilID cards have been delivered by the Philippine Postal Corporation as of December 31, 2023.

PSA-Aklan data further showed that as of May 31 this year, 11,319 of Akeanons aged one to four years old already registered to PhilSys, or 24.79 percent of the total population of children in province based on 2020 CPH.

PSA-Aklan is encouraging unregistered Akeanons, especially those one to four years old, to register now with PhilSys.

The PSA has been encouraging Filipinos to use their PhilIDs and ePhilIDs for financial transactions.

“As more registered persons receive their PhilID and ePhilID, we encourage them to use it in their transactions with financial institutions to gain access to financial services and products that can open opportunities for them,” PSA Undersecretary and National Statistician Dennis Mapa said./PN
