Over 8,000 BEIs to serve in May 2022 polls in NegOcc

BACOLOD City – Over 8,000 Board of Election Inspectors (BEI) will serve in Negros Occidental during the May 9, 2022 national and local elections.

Atty. Roberto Salazar, acting provincial election supervisor for Negros Occidental, 2,906 clustered precincts will open on Election Day, with each precinct served by three BEIs consisting of one Chairman, and two members.

A Department of Education (DepEd) supervising officer will also be assigned, usually a school principal. Teachers serving as BEIs will receive honorarium.

A BEI chairman will have a honorarium of P7,000, while a BEI member will get P6,000.

A DepEd supervising officer, meanwhile, will receive P5,000. Other allowances include travel, communication, and anti-COVID.

Salazar also pointed out honorariums and allowances are subject to 20 percent tax based on the ruling of the Bureau of Internal Revenue./PN
