Over 8K job vacancies up for grabs

ILOILO – Today’s Public Employment Service Office (PESO) – Iloilo job fair from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. offers over 8,000 job vacancies.

The PESO – Iloilo encouraged jobseekers to check out the 78 local and 10 overseas companies at Robinsons Place Jaro in Iloilo City.

PESO-Iloilo head Francisco Heler Jr. said there are 4,242 job vacancies for local employment and 3,762 job orders for overseas employment.

Most of the local offerings are cashiers, administrative staff, sales representatives, and business process outsourcing.

The Philippine Army will also receive applicants.

For overseas jobs, among the offerings are painters and carpenters bound for New Zealand; cashier bound for Malaysia and the United Arab Emirates; nurses bound for Singapore, Germany and Saudi Arabia; and receptionist bound for Germany.

Sea-based companies are also joining, looking for engineers, oilers, decks, chief cooks, and electricians.

Partner government agencies will set up booths, such as the Philippine Health Insurance Corporation, Technical Education and Skills Development Authority, Department of Migrant Workers, Overseas Workers Welfare Administration, Department of Foreign Affairs, Bureau of Internal Revenue, Pag-IBIG Fund, Social Security System, Philippine Statistics Authority, Department of Trade and Industry, National Bureau of Investigation, and Professional Regulation Commission.

“Nagapasalamat kita kay ginasuportahan gid kita sang national government offices nga may regional offices diri sa Iloilo,” said Heler.

“Libre-Sakay” will be offered by 12 local government units for their constituents who wish to participate in the job fair. These are Passi City and the towns of Barotac Viejo, Tigbauan, Guimbal, Igbaras, Barotac Nuevo, Cabatuan, Dumangas, Zarraga, Sara, New Lucena, and Batad.

For persons with disabilities (PWDs), five local companies are open to applicants and one local company caters to senior citizens who are still fit to work.

Applicants are encouraged to be at the venue early and bring multiple copies of their résumés and a copy of their passport for overseas employment applicants.

This month’s job fair, according to Heler, aims to give new college and senior high school graduates a chance.

“Gin-adjust namon because ang graduation indi na summer but nag-atras so gin-adjust para ma-cater ang bag-o lang gid nag-graduate sa college and senior high school,” he added./PN
