Over P2.5-M ‘shabu’ seized in successive drug stings

ILOILO City – Over P2.5 million worth of suspected shabu was seized in three successive drug stings in this city, which also led to the arrest of four suspects, two of whom were classified as high-value.

In Barangay West Timawa, Molo district, suspected shabu worth P1,088,000 was recovered from Michael “Gringo” Seguiter, 35, and Earl “Intsik” Decla, 34, around 3 a.m. yesterday.

Seguiter was identified as the region’s No. 10 drug suspect.

The two yielded 23 heat-sealed sachets of suspected shabu weighing 160 grams.

Police Major Rommel Anicete of the Police Regional Office 6’s Regional Drug Enforcement Unit said Seguiter served jail time in 2012 for use of marijuana and was just released this year.

Earlier on the same day, about 10 grams or P68,000 worth of suspected shabu was also seized in an anti-drug operation.

The 52-year-old Romeo Agre Jr. was arrested around 12:40 a.m. in Barangay Balabago, Jaro district.

On Tuesday, March 14, a buy-bust operation in Barangay Calaparan, Arevalo district yielded 205 grams of suspected shabu valued at around P1,394,000.

Police arrested 35-year-old Gemar “Jao” Gevero – a high-value suspect.

The four suspects were in police custody and facing charges for violation of Republic Act 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002./PN
