ILOILO – A suspect was arrested and yielded approximately 120 grams of suspected shabu valued at around P816,000 during a raid in Calinog town.
Also recovered from alias “Bebot” was a 12-gauge shotgun (pistol break-type).
The operation was carried out at around 5:48 a.m. on Monday, February 10, by the Calinog Municipal Police Station (MPS) through the strength of a search warrant issued by the Regional Trial Court, 6th Judicial Region, in Janiuay town for violation of Republic Act 10591 (Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act).
Calinog police said concerned citizens had previously linked the suspect to firearm-related incidents in town.
Additionally, he had possible involvement in illegal drug activities and was believed to have sourced his illegal drug supply from Iloilo City for local distribution, police added.
Police Colonel Bayani Razalan, director of the Iloilo Police Provincial Office, lauded the efforts of the Calinog MPS for their successful operation and emphasized the importance of community involvement in crime prevention.
“I commend the outstanding performance of our operatives in swiftly addressing the illegal activities of Bebot in Calinog, Iloilo. Community support is invaluable. With the arrest of the suspect and the recovery of a significant quantity of illegal drugs and firearms, we are one step closer to our shared goal of a safer, drug-free Iloilo for everyone,” Razalan said.
The suspect is currently in the custody of the Calinog MPS, pending the filing of charges for violations of RA 10591 and RA 9165 (Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002)./PN
