ILOILO – A six-year-old girl died while five other members of her family sustained injuries after their motorcycle slammed into a parked vehicle along the highway in Barangay Salcedo, Sara, Iloilo on Sunday afternoon, September 6.
Police Corporal Cesar Medina Jr. of the Sara Municipal Police Station (MPS) disclosed that six people were riding on a motorcycle driven by the father, alias “Rolando,” 32.
The family was traveling home to San Dionisio town from Concepcion when the crash occurred. Riding with Rolando were his wife, alias “Tricia Ann,” 28, and their four children aged eight, six, three, and one year old.
Due to the severity of the impact, the six-year-old daughter suffered fatal injuries and was declared dead on arrival at the hospital. The three-year-old child sustained serious injuries and was transferred to a hospital in Iloilo City for further treatment, while the remaining family members received emergency medical care.
Initial investigation by the Sara MPS revealed that the motorcycle rear-ended an unoccupied multi-purpose vehicle parked along the roadside.
