ROXAS City – Oyster farmers in this city will soon benefit from the Oyster Raft Project of the Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR).
This was after the bureau granted the request of the Roxas City government to be a beneficiary.
BFAR will be giving oyster rafts to identified talaba growers who are affected by the ongoing river dredging that resulted in the extraction of fish cages in the Panay River, as confirmed by BFAR Capiz officer-in-charge provincial head Edwin Candelario B. Javier, aquaculturists Alvin Beltran and Lorelyn Ofalla, city agriculturist Mary Ann Baria and coastal resource management specialist Belinda Garrido.
Mayor Ronnie Dadivas said some personnel from BFAR-Dagupan will be arriving in Roxas City to train project beneficiaries on the Oyster Raft Method Culture using Bamboo Raft Technology.
“Ini nga method sunu sa BFAR napamatud-an na nga makabulig sa pagpadaku kag pagpanami sang produksyon sang talaba,” said Dadivas./PN
