ILOILO – Fifteen fighting roosters worth P1.4 million were stolen from a game farm in Barangay Particion, Guimbal.

“As of Feb. 15, gina-prepare ta na ang documents for filing a case,” said Police Captain Felice Dioso of the Guimbal Municipal Police Station (MPS).

The suspects were Ronald Bluma, Jay-R Jimenez, Ronilo Gumayao and Jun Jimenez.

On Feb. 11, Merlinda Bluma of Barangay San Pedro, Tapaz, Capiz surrendered five broad cocks with “Alexandra” markings to the authorities, claiming her brother stole those.

Alexandra Game Farm is owned by AAMBIS-OWA Party-list Rep. Lex Anthony Cris Colada.

Farm manager Emiliano Gevela discovered the robbery on Feb. 7 at 6:30 p.m.

Upon inventory, Gevela learned that 12 broad cocks and three stags were carted away.

Closed-circuit television (CCTV) camera footage around 1:36 a.m. showed the suspects breaking in.

“Feb. 7 pa ini natabo galing kay daw nabukaran tungod sa sunod-sunod nga kawatay sang mga dalagko nga game farm sa iban pa gid nga kabanwahanan,” said Dioso.

Dioso added this could be the work of an organized group; the same incidents targeting high-profile breeders were recently reported in Lambunao and Barotac Viejo towns.

The stolen gamefowls were reportedly sold in Boracay Island, Aklan.

Police Regional Office 6 director Brigadier General Leo Francisco, for his part, intensified checkpoints and vehicle inspections.

Pa-imbestigaran ko yan kasi ibang modus naman ang ginagawa nila, nag-shift naman sila sa nakawan na pangsabong na manok,” said Francisco./PN
