BACOLOD City â A P10-million animal hub will soon rise at the Panaad Park and Stadium in Barangay Mansilingan.
Shiela May Jumayao, head of the Planning, Programs and Projects Development Division of the Provincial Veterinary Office (PVO), said the construction of the hub â dubbed as âNegros First Animal Hubâ â will begin this February.
The target opening date of the animal hub is during the 25th Panaad sa Negros Festival in April.
The hub, which will occupy a 3,081-square meter area at the park, will include an auction area, animal pens, a training center, a laboratory, and a demonstration room for value-adding activities.
The Sangguniang Panlalawigan (SP) approved on Wednesday the ordinance establishing the Negros First Animal Hub, which aims to boost the provinceâs livestock and poultry industry.
SP member Victor Javellana, chairman of the committee on agriculture, conducted a committee hearing with PVO personnel and representatives of local animal raisers associations in the province before the ordinance was passed.
âThe facility aims to promote efficient basic services to animal raisers in the province by providing lower auction service fees resulting to lower production costs,â Javellana said. (PNA/PN)
