P100.3-M military hospital to rise in Jamindan

JAMINDAN, Capiz – A two-storey hospital will be constructed at Camp General Macario Peralta, the headquarters of the Philippine Army’s 3rd Infantry Division (3ID) here.

Costing P100.3 million, it will have 50 beds and would primarily serve soldiers and their families.

According to 3ID spokesperson Major Cenon Pancito III, the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) will take charge of the construction under the government’s Build Build Build Program.

The groundbreaking was held on July 3 attended by Architect Vicente Rabago Jr. representing Engineer Lea Delfinado, DPWH Region 6 director; Armed Forces Chief of Staff General Cirilito Sobejana; and 3ID commander, Major General Eric Vinoya.

“This hospital will be a morale booster to our soldiers fighting for peace. We are lucky na nabigyan tayo ng project na ito,” Pancito said.

The existing one-building station hospital inside the military camp is not enough to accommodate all soldiers of the division that covers Western and Central Visayas.

The hospital is a “convergence project” of the Department of National Defense and DPWH under the Tatag ng Imprastraktura sa Kapayapaan at Seguridad (TIKAS) program.

For his part, Vinoya said the 3ID has lots of expert nurses and doctors to man the hospital.

“With the ongoing pandemic, the demand for better health accommodation also increased. This project is indeed timely,” he added.

The hospital, which is expected to be completed within the year, can also accept civilian emergency cases from nearby communities./PN
