P100K ‘shabu’ seized in Bakhaw

ILOILO City – A drug pushing suspect yielded over P100,000 of suspected shabu in a buy-bust operation in Barangay Bakhaw, Mandurriao district, Iloilo City at about 11:15 p.m. on Thursday, May 18.

Ely Bandiola Tupas, “alias Toto”, 40, is a resident of La Paz district but temporarily resides in Barangay Bakhaw.

“Na-monitor naton nga isa ini sa wala nadakpan sang pagsulod sang aton nga counterpaart didto sa Regional Drug Enforcement Unit (RDEU),” said Police Captain Val Cambel, officer-in-charge of the Mandurriao police.

The operation was conducted by the combined forces of the Station Drug Enforcement Team of Mandurriao police and the City Drug Enforcement Unit, headed by Lieutenant Colonel Antonio Benitez Jr.

Tupas sold to a police poseur buyer a plastic sachet of suspected shabu for P6,000.

Three additional plastic sachets of suspected shabu weighing more or less 15 grams and with a standard drug price of P102,000 were recovered.

The suspect is currently being held at the Mandurriao Police Station and will face charges for violation of Republic Act 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002./PN
