BACOLOD City – Over P11 million worth of suspected shabu was confiscated in a buy-bust operation at Green Plains Subdivision in Barangay Singcang Airport here.
The suspected illegal drug contained in 212 sachets weighing more than a kilogram was seized from 18-year-old Joy Diamante and 23-year-old Rafael Catuar, police said.
Diamante and Catuar – both residents of Purok Langis in the city’s Barangay Banago – initially sold a sachet to a police agent for P1,000.
Personnel of the City Drug Enforcement Unit and the Regional Drug Enforcement Unit (RDEU) of the Police Regional Office staged the operation Thursday afternoon.
RDEU team leader, Lieutenant Thurzly Castillo, said they have been monitoring the two suspects for two months and they believed the two were members of a notorious drug group operating in Negros Island.
The two suspects were detained. Charges for violation of Republic Act 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 will be filed against them.
Brigadier General Rene Pamuspusan, regional police director, lauded the successful operation./PN
